Aegerter disappointed with 13th, Mulhauser struggles in Sachsenring

11.07.2015

Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) was the best Swiss representative of the qualifying session for the German Moto2 Grand Prix on the circuit of Sachsenring. Awarded with a fourth position in the end, the former 125cc world champion was in the front during the whole session. The winner here last year, Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) was less comfortable this Saturday afternoon: his 13th fastest time will see him start from the fifth row of the grid. The day was also difficult for the third rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten), who finished 27th and was beaten for the first time this season by his young countryman Jesko Raffin. A summary from Fred Corminboeuf, the boss of the two Swiss teams: "A really good session for Tom, who placed himself immediately among the best; unfortunately he lost a bit of time in the final laps in traffic that was getting worse and worse. It is a pity because a front row start was really close. Dominique was a bit more tense today than yesterday, he is not far off, time wise, and if he can loosen up tomorrow, we can expect an incredible race from him. Unfortunately the day was more difficult for Robin, he did not do bad behind Tom and Dominique for two laps - the three Swiss riders created a small train on the track for a while during the session - but then he was missing something. We now expect more from him."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 13th): "Honestly, I did not expect, on Friday, that the fastest times would be this fast. I am disappointed with this 13th position and what bothers me the most is that once again I struggled more than most of my rivals to progress throughout sessions. I was doing well on Friday morning but this Saturday afternoon was more difficult and I could not fully benefit from a new tire. I am still experiencing problems in fast corners, where the bike battles to do what I want. My objective for the race? To do much better than in qualifying."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 27th): "This circuit definitely does not suit my riding style or, rather, I am not able to adapt to the track. This morning I was still struggling a lot in the twisty section. We found a beginning of a solution, which allowed me to follow Tom and Dominique for a lap and a half. But then it was in the fastest sector where I lost them completely; I was losing a lot of time on a few meters because I was not fast enough exiting the famous corner that is the key to the steep uphill. I am not where I want to be at all and I will have to challenge myself to be in the Top-20 in the race."
