Aegerter is asking himself, Mulhauser struggles more than in Catalunya

26.06.2015

Fourth in the provisional Moto2 World Championship classification with seven out of eighteen races of the 2015 calendar being completed, Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) will start the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday at 12:20pm on this historical circuit in Assen in the middle of the third row of the starting grid (8th fastest in qualifying). This is the last time that the most traditional rendezvous of the world championship, that has been on the GP calendar since 1949, the year this competition started, will take place on a Saturday. From 2016, the race in Assen will be held on a Sunday. The qualifying was more complicated for Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten), who finished 16th (6th row), while Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten), 26th overall, will try to score his first world championship points. The boss of the two Swiss teams, Fred Corminboeuf summarised the day: "The most positive thing is that we still have a huge margin of improvement! But we need to work more to give Tom a bike that will give him more confidence and that will allow him to be less stiff. We still have 20 minutes of warm-up tomorrow morning to find a solution, especially in the first sector where he loses a lot of time. After a good first day, Dominique struggled more today, he was too aggressive on a circuit where one needs to be as smooth as possible. Even though the first two men of the classification seem to be on another planet, there is going to be a big battle behind them and Domi is going to be there too. When it comes to Robin, he did his job well; he needs to get his confidence back after his crash in Catalunya and I hope that he can complete the full race tomorrow and maintain a good rhythm during the entire race distance."

They said ...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 16th): "Our job proved to be more difficult than we expected. Frankly, I am struggling to understand where Zarco and Rabat went to look for their lap times. After a good impression this morning, with used tires, I was sure that with new tires it would be a lot better but it was not the case. The heat? I am not sure but I did not have grip. The gap from pole is huge but it was less than four tenths from 4th position in this practice so the race is going to be very close. I also hope that tomorrow morning in warm-up we can still find a few small things to improve our machine."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 26th): "It is more difficult for me than in Barcelona. I struggled a lot to set-up my bike and I make too many mistakes, especially with the front that is not doing what I would like. I was riding as fast by myself as when I tried to follow someone so I hope to have a regular rhythm. Now the gap from the Top-10 is not dramatic and because, according to the local people, there is a 50% chance of rain on Saturday, I think that the race could be full of surprises."
