Aegerter tenth after a tough race, Mulhauser improves in the race

12.07.2015

Finishing 6th in the German Moto2 Grand Prix on the circuit of Sachsenring, Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) was the best Swiss representative of the weekend despite a disappointing weekend for him after a promising practice. Tom was fighting like a lion to collect ten points at the end when the reigning world champion Tito Rabat and young Italian Franco Morbidelli crashed at the very end of the race. Tenth Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten), he also struggled to find consistency. Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) finished 20th and marked one of his best performances, especially in terms of the pace he was able to maintain during the 29-lap race. The boss of CGBM Evolution, the company owning the two teams, Frédéric Corminboeuf sums up the day and the first half of the championship: "First of all, I need to mention that Robin was faster in the race than in qualifying and he only lost the opportunity to fight with a group in the points because he made one small mistake that cost him two seconds. He absolutely needs to maintain this pace and I am sure that with such a base he will achieve his objective very soon. Dominique's race had two phases: one was really good, where he was able to fight with Tom and Lowes, but then he was tense again. He is leaving for Suzuka tonight where he is going to participate in the famous 8-hour race. This will be good for him. Thomas Lüthi was fighting during the whole race and he was on the limit. He recalled that we are with him to race for an overall podium. This is how we finished the first half of the season, knowing that we need to do more this autumn. Everyone, the riders, technicians, the management have to be self-critical and I am sure that when we come back in Indianapolis the weekend of 9 August, we will be fighting for the podium again."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 10th): "The race was difficult. I had a good phase in the first half of the German Grand Prix, where I was able to fight with Tom and Lowes. But I was on the limit everywhere. Then I battled to escape Kallio. On the brakes I tried to pick up the time I was losing on the curbs and I became tense. I even started to suffer from back pain and struggled to move on the bike. The first half of the season is bad overall, of course. Now I am off to Suzuka to participate in the 8-hour race, which is completely different and I am sure that it will be good for me."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 20th): "I am only 20th but I am happy with my race. I was 4 tenths faster than in qualifying and, as in Catalunya, I was in a group and with a pace to fight for the world championship points. Unfortunately I made one mistake, when Alex Marquez overtook me and at that moment I lost contact with Krummenacher, Folger, Pons, Salóm and others. I know that I need to do a lot more and I am going to prove that when we come back."
