Four points for Aegerter in Assen, Mulhauser classified 20th

27.06.2015

The Dutch Moto2 Grand Prix was eventful because of a red flag stopping the race immediately at the end of the first lap following a crash of Luis Salóm from Spain, whose bike caught fire. In accordance with the regulations, a new start procedure followed and the race was shortened from 24 laps to 16. Johann Zarco, the current leader of the World Championship, grabbed the victory in this sprint race that allowed Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) to score important eleven points for his fifth position (The Swiss rider finished less than 5 seconds behind the race winner). Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) unfortunately lost a lot of his potential at the start that he did not master as usual this time. He finished twelfth. Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) was classified twentieth after a difficult weekend for him. Frédéric Corminboeuf, the team manager of the two Swiss teams commented: "Tom has never been this quick in Assen. He finished less than 5 seconds behind the winner, which is positive. However, for sure we want more than that. Tom lost his chances for a podium on Friday in qualifying; his pace was not sufficient. In the race, after an average start, he proved that he was able to run the pace that would be enough for a third position. But it was too late. Dominique had a poor start for the first time in a very long time and he lost a lot of time during the first four laps trying to find his pace. Robin finished in Top-20 but this time, unlike in Catalunya, he was not close enough to fight for the championship points."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 12th): "The first start was good but the second one was bad. Then I was in a group of riders, who did not have the same pace, I knew I was faster but each time I tried to use my lines, they closed the door. Overtaking was not easy. Once I was leading the group, my lap times improved but it was too late to hope for something better. I am sure that our basic set-up is not bad but we still have to fix some small things before we can fight in the front."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 20th): "This weekend was really difficult for me. I never felt comfortable on this circuit, on my bike, I did not have a feeling with the bike and I had the impression of everything being delayed. I wanted to try something but it did not work immediately. I had to fight with my countryman Raffin for the 20th position and I know that is not my level. I really need to get back into the Top-15 group like in Catalunya."
