Mulhauser: good start of the race, Hook was too soon left alone

08.11.2015

Third in the last Grand Prix of the 2015 season – his fourth podium of the year of which one victory in France - Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) consolidated his fifth position in the overall Moto2 World Championship classification and reminded everyone more than ever that he is a valuable asset of the world championship. Very consistent throughout practice, as he was already in Japan, then in Australia and Malaysia, Tom finished his job in “crescendo”. Unfortunately Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) got caught in the first-lap accident – by no fault of his own – but he was nevertheless able to bring his bike back to the box and take part in the re-started race; he finished in 22nd position. As for Joshua Hook (Technomag Racing Interwetten), replacing Dominique Aegerter from the second day of practice, he continued to learn with Moto2. A sum up of the last day of the season with Frédéric Corminboeuf, the owner of CGBM Evolution (the company owning the two Swiss teams): “A podium to finish the year off – second in a row – it is great. These last four races Tom raised the game to the top level and if everyone else is tired at the end of the season, me personally I am already excited to start again next year. Robin was in the wrong place and got caught in the crash on the first lap. We were able to fix his bike so he could re-start and lap-time wise, the first quarter of the race he was on the same pace as the group fighting for a thirteenth position before he lost contact with them. A lot of preparation is waiting form him in the winter because he knows that he is getting his last chance in 2016. As for Josh, starting the weekend by missing the first day of practice, we knew that it would be difficult for him; he reacted well on the first start, he moved up to a 19th position when the race was stopped. Unfortunately the second start did not go so well and he found himself alone. He needs to follow people to make a progress due to the lack of experience that he has. Whatever his future holds, whether with us or not, we would like to wish him all the best.”

He said…

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 22nd ): “I had a really good first start. I was in a huge group when Syarhin made a move on the inside and crashed. I could have ended up a lot worse, so I was lucky. For the second start I had a good feeling, I was in a group with Folger and Schrötter but when their pace increased, I was not able to follow. My season overall, with only one point, is disappointing. Last winter I had to undertake an operation to fix my left shoulder and I was not able to prepare myself as I wanted; physically I am fine but I need more practice, more riding and that is what we are going to change to prepare for 2016.”
